This work is inspired by Zapotec culture and the spiritual richness of the Isthmus, where nature and spirit exist in harmony. Two hummingbird–alebrijes float within a sacred space, representing vital energy, constant movement, and the connection between the earthly and the spiritual realms. Their ornamented bodies evoke Zapotec tradition; each line and pattern symbolizes ancestral memory, identity, and the presence of an invisible force that guides and protects.

The circular forms surrounding the hummingbirds draw from Zapotec symbolism and function as fields of energy or spiritual shields, representing protection, supreme power, happiness, and harmony. These elements create a sacred space in which the hummingbirds become guardians — messengers of strength and balance.

The flowers of the Isthmus emerge with intensity and abundance, symbolizing life, joy, and contribution to the community. They represent fertile land and the beauty that flourishes through collective effort, reminding us that every being contributes its energy to the balance of the world.

Small yet powerful, the hummingbirds embody resilience, joy, and the living energy of the Zapotec spirit, revealing that true strength resides in the heart and in the ability to bring life and movement into the world. The work becomes a visual amulet of protection, power, and happiness, where color and symbolism create a space of spiritual harmony.
